About LukeLuke is an MDiv student at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO, graduating in May '13. He also holds bachelor and master's degrees in Accounting from The University of Memphis, where he was involved with RUF.
Prior to moving to St. Louis, Luke spent over five years in the corporate world as an auditor for accounting firm KPMG and International Paper Co. in his home of Memphis, TN. During these years, he was actively involved at his home congregation, Independent Presbyterian Church (PCA), as a music assistant and College & Career leader. In February 2008, Luke helped plant Independent's daughter church, Christ Presbyterian (PCA), in Oakland, TN. He served there for two and a half years preaching, teaching, and leading worship as their Pastoral Intern and Director of Worship. Luke met his wife, Joelle (from Tacoma, WA), his first semester in seminary as she was returning to complete her MATS degree after serving at Sacred Road Ministries on the Yakima Indian reservation in Washington. Interestingly, both Luke and Joelle possess ENFJ Myers-Briggs personality types. Joelle currently serves as the seminary's on-campus childcare facility coordinator (where Luke also helps care for children of seminary families). Apart from his studies, Luke has spent his time at Covenant serving in a variety of ministries. He has worked for Sunshine Ministries in downtown St. Louis as Men's Ministry Assistant caring for homeless men and teaching practical theology and life skills to recovering addicts. He currently serves as the seminary's Field Education Assistant, working with students and mentors to increase the quality of the mentored ministry experience, and represents the student body as part of the Student Council. Luke and Joelle attend Crossroads Presbyterian Fellowship (PCA) in Maplewood, MO where he serves as the Director of Music and as a member of the Adult Education team. Luke enjoys spending his free time hosting dinner parties for friends, rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals, playing golf, and being silly with his wife. Luke and Joelle are excited to see how the Lord will use them in a life of ministry together. |
